This year the men’s lacrosse program will be honoring the 30th anniversary of Asher Montandon’s passing. The team will be wearing a decal on the back of their helmets, a black circle with "AM".

Last week, we had previous winner John Beglin speak to the team right before the alumni game on what the award means to him, the team, and the program.

“I think that the Asher Montadon award is a wonderful way of honoring Asher’s memory by recognizing players who share the values he lived and brought to the program,” says Coach Hewitt.

“What he did bring to the game was a great deal of perseverance. He was an overachiever. He elevated everyone else’s game. [Outside of lacrosse,] He really brought a refreshing bent to things. He’s an individual who could make a difference in the world ” explained Mike Annala, “Mr. A”, in a 1992 Press Democrat article.

Below are some photos of Asher and the 1992 team before departing for the BYU fall tournament, from Mr. A.

Thank you, Asher, and for everything you mean to the program, the team, and the family.
