Player Reflection on Seawolf Prospect Day

by Editor null

During the Sonoma State Men’s Lacrosse prospect day, many incoming players and other student-athletes interested in our program get to have a day that includes a school tour as well as a full-field scrimmage afterward, along with a barbecue. All of these events, including the school tour, the scrimmage, and those at the grill for the post-game meal, involve current SSU players as well as our coaching staff in order to ensure student-athletes leave with no question unanswered.

Most of our newest players on the team attended the 2022 Prospect Day held on campus and were able to assist in hosting the most recent prospect event in the Fall of 2023.

“Being able to hangout with the team after the scrimmage really helped me see how welcoming all of the guys were,” said freshman midfielder Anders Bostrom while reflecting on his experience of the event.

Every year, our newest additions to the team get to play with the prospects in the scrimmage as well. “It’s exciting to see all of the potential teammates for the coming years,” freshman defenseman Liam Crow noted after his experience this past Fall.

“It’s a great opportunity to meet some cool younger athletes that want to come out, have a good time and play this incredible sport,” Bostrom added.

As these student-athletes, both current and future prospects, experience what it’s like to play with an MCLA Division 1 lacrosse program, a space is created for teaching and learning on both ends of the spectrum, allowing every player involved to benefit from this event. The environment created is the perfect way to spark connections between the coaching staff and current players with the prospects and their families.

If anyone is interested in attending our next prospect clinic, keep an eye out for notifications of openings through our social media as well as on our website under “Seawolf Prospect Day.” For any questions, please contact Coach Hewitt (ssulaxcoach@gmail.com) and our admin (nomamenslacrosse@gmail.com).
