Rohnert Park, Calf. -The Sonoma State Men’s Lacrosse team is proud to announce their 2013 schedule. The Schedule features their normal WCLL conference games with home games versus Chico State, UC Davis and Santa Clara University. Sonoma will travel on the road for conference games against Cal-Berkeley, Stanford University and Cal Poly.
The real part of the schedule that catches your eye is Sonoma’s out of conference games, which are against much tougher opponents than in years past.
“ This schedule is the toughest we have had in a couple of years, but these guys earned it. We as coaches sat down and decided that not only did we need make our schedule longer but we also need to make it tougher. It was made easy with teams reaching out to play us and that’s a direct reflection on how hard last year’s team worked,” stated Head Coach Doug Carl.
The Seawolves will open up with two preseason games against NCAA Division II teams, Dominican University and Notre Dame de Namur. Sonoma will travel to Oregon for two out of conference tilts with the University of Oregon and Oregon State University. After traveling back Sonoma the team will partake in one practice before hosting the University of Texas, a team who the Seawolves beat in overtime last year in Austin. Sonoma will host the University of New Hampshire before heading east for their spring break trip, which will feature games against Virginia Tech, Richmond, and Pittsburgh. The Seawolves will end their schedule by renewing their long-standing rivalry with the University of California-Santa Barbara.
“I think that our spring break trip will be a great test for us, traveling east and playing three tough teams like we are is going to be a great. I am really excited for our game with Santa Barbara, I have never been apart of the rivalry so it should be exciting,” said Senior Casimir Morawski.
